PawRoute — the spec

PawRoute is a booking portal built for solo mobile pet groomers. It gives the groomer a single place to publish their availability by zone, let owners pick a slot and pay a deposit, and track revenue and bookings from a clean dashboard. The groomer stays on the road; admin takes care of itself.

The core loop

  1. Groomer logs in and configures their service menu, pricing, durations, and operating zones.
  2. Customer lands on the groomer's booking page, selects a service, picks an open slot in their zone, and pays a deposit to confirm.
  3. PawRoute writes the appointment to the groomer's synced calendar and marks that slot as unavailable in real time.
  4. The groomer opens the dashboard, sees the incoming booking with the pet's breed and any owner notes, and confirms or reschedules.
  5. Once the job is done, the groomer advances to the next available slot; the dashboard updates revenue totals automatically.

v1 scope

Calendar sync with real-time availability across zones
Connects to Google Calendar (and iCal as a fallback) to pull existing appointments; blocks slots instantly when a new booking lands so double-booking is impossible. Lives on the groomer's Availability settings screen and reflects live on the customer booking page.

Service menu with pricing and duration
Groomer defines services (e.g., full groom, bath-only), sets a price and slot duration for each, and activates or pauses them at will. Duration drives which calendar windows are offered to customers. Lives on the Service Menu settings screen.

Customer profiles with pet breed and notes
Each booking creates or updates a customer record storing owner contact details, pet name, breed, and freeform notes (allergies, behaviour flags, preferred products). The groomer reads this at a glance before arriving. Lives on the Customer Profiles screen and is surfaced inline on each booking card.

Monthly revenue and booking analytics dashboard
Displays total bookings, confirmed vs. pending counts, deposit income collected, and projected monthly revenue. Lets the groomer spot busy zones and slow weeks at a glance. Lives on the Dashboard home screen.

Deliberately later

  • Automated deposit payment processing and receipts — payment infrastructure adds compliance and fraud-handling complexity; proven demand from 5 customers first justifies the integration work.
  • SMS/email appointment reminders to customers — messaging costs and deliverability configuration are non-trivial; valuable once the groomer has a steady booking volume to justify the overhead.
  • Mobile-responsive booking landing page — a public-facing marketing page matters at scale; the core portal handles bookings without it for v1.
  • Cancellation policy enforcement and refunds — refund logic is tightly coupled to payment processing; ship alongside automated payments in v2.

How to use this document

  • Bring it into Mind Palace, where the guided platform and its AI coach pick up from exactly this document and build the product with you step by step.
  • Hand it to a developer as the complete v1 brief — scope, data model, and screens are defined; nothing is left open to interpretation.
  • Keep it as the single source of truth while you build, so every feature decision can be checked against what PawRoute is and who it serves.
